Our Activities
Spinning
In spinning (yarn production) a total of 165 beneficiaries are engaged which is from village Toshi (21), Triyuginarayan (27), Badasu (28), Kunjethi (26), Dewali(23), Bhanigram(20), and lamgoundi 25.


Weaving (handloom)
Mandakini has created a weaving facility at three different locations -Lamgoundi (20), Dewali 20, and Triyuginarayan (12) and had recruited a total of 52 weavers. The training was given by expert women from Panchachuli Women Weavers Almora. These weavers had undergone intensive training for 10 months as a result of the intensive training the weavers are now producing one product per day (210cm length X72 cm width) under the supervision of master weavers developed by the project.
Carpet Weaving
MMBS has started carpet weaving at Lamgaundi and now 8 women are engaged in carpet weaving. Carpet weaving will help utilize local sheep wool spun on taklis. The training was given by two ladies from different districts and spent three months.


Knitting
A total of 15 beneficiaries’ are engaged in knitting work at Bhanigram (5), Lamgoundi (2), and Triyuginarayn (8) centers and they are making good quality products with the technical support of Pancahchuli Women Weavers, Almora. The main products are Scarp Muffler; Baby blankets are produced by the knitters. The knitting capacity per knitter is 40 cm per day (4 hr).
Embroidery
The 10 women are engaged in embroidery work in (7) Bhanigram and Triyuginarayan (3). The beneficiaries’ had received advanced training in embroidery work and they are making different types of embroidery work in the weaved product.


Training on improved cultivation techniques
MMBS conducts training on regular basis with the support of KVK and the Department of Horticulture. 200 women were also involved in the commercial cultivation of spices.
Training on Processing
MMBS also set a processing unit for processing (Shorting, grading, grinding) 15 youth are engaged in processing activities


Packaging and labeling
MMBS developed a brand Mandakini Pahadi Masala which is Turmeric, Ginger, Coriander, Tulsi Tea, Tea Masala and Mix Masala
Marketing
MMBS Developed Marketing strategy for Spices:-
- Regular Basis: MMBS developed a daily plan. A total of 15 routes has been developed and the vehicle moved in twice a month in each route.
- Community Resource Person: MMBS identifies village women for rural marketing on a commission basis they are known as CPR. Total 63 women are engaged in rural marketing


Carding
A total of 5 women are engaged in local seep wool carding in Triyuginarayan village. Spices Processing and Marketing – MMBS also developed a value chain of selected spices.
